This install was on a 2010 Ford Escape. The camera, which is attached to a license plate bracket is straightforward. There is a 1/4 round depression in the metal behind the plate. 1/4 inch drill and 1/4 inch rubber grommet. I fed the four pin connector and line around and through the side of the liftgate and through the side of an existing rubber wire housing that runs to the main body of the car. Again, there was another 1/4" depression, in the sheetmetal nearby which I drilled and put another grommet around. It would have been nice to have a few more inches of wire to the four pin connector, but I had enough to feed it inside the main body with enough play for the liftgate to open and close. (The four pin connector easily fits through a 1/4 hole, while the RCA jack or the female housing for the four pin connector would not.) Connecting the four pin connector to the long red/ black power lines and RCA video line was a bit of a chore because there wasn’t much extra wire from the run to the license plate. I had some confusion on the connection of the red/black power lines. The PDF instructions show it running to the cigarette lighter adapter for ‘switched’ power, while the Youtube video of an install on an Expedition with the same head unit showed them being spliced into the backup lights in the taillight lens where there would only be power when the car was in reverse. I did get a response from the online text feature of the website to go with the cigarette lighter adapter. The install behind the head unit is very simple with the two supplied wire harnesses, one to the head unit and one to the cigarette lighter for power. I wasn’t really satisfied with crimping the red/black wires in the supplied connectors and soldered them. They never felt really tight and I didn’t want to have to go back in to the dash if one of them came loose. The panels above where the air vents are and below where the cigarette lighter and USB jacks are pry out without too much effort. That exposes four 7mm screws, two up and two down. Then, pulling off the plastic facia around the head unit exposes four more 7mm screws securing the head unit itself. I did not have to remove the head unit wiring as there was enough room to pull out the one connector and substitute the bypass connector which has the RCA jack to plug into the cable coming from the license plate. I did have to disconnect all of the connectors on the lower pullout panel with the cigarette lighter, USB and aux input, but no big deal. Finally, the Genie was as advertised – turn on the car, plug in, wait for the green light and pull out. The backup camera image is nice and sharp and comes on quickly once the car is put into reverse.

          General:

              • Verify the shipping address used within checkout to ensure it is correct
              • Look for a notice of attempted delivery
              • Look around the delivery location for your package. Many times carriers will place the package in a location that isn’t typical, ie. behind the fence, by the garage, near the mailbox, etc.
              • See if someone else accepted the delivery such as a family member or neighbor. In recent past, customers have found the package mixed with other family member’s packages inside their home several days after delivery.

          For missing UPS/FedEx shipped packages:

              • A UPS1-800-742-5877 or FedEx1-800-463-3339 trace investigation must be initiated as soon as possible. This process takes up to 8 business days to be completed.

          For missing USPS packages:

              • A US Postal Service 1-800-222-1811 trace investigation must be initiated as soon as possible. Many times USPS will suggest that it will take an extra 7 business days after the expected date of delivery to locate the package.

For missing packages that have been shipped to an APO/FPO:

              • Please note that the Military Postal Service Agency does not consider a package to be lost until 60 days after the date of mailing. If the customer still has not received their package after 60 days then please contact customer service to assist you in filing a missing package inquiry with the MPSA. Once the inquiry is received, the MPSA will be in contact to positively identify the owner and ship the item to the recipient should it be found.

In the event a lost or missing package is not recovered within 14-days (domestic shipments) or 30-days (international shipments) a police report may be required at the discretion of the customer support manager. All part numbers and/or serial numbers are recorded prior to shipping, this vital information will assist the police with the investigation. Depending solely on the circumstances, the customer support manager may opt to release another identical shipment requiring a direct signature of the original buyer.
