The Ram truck featured a factory cargo camera built into the LED third brake light. It came as an option on all trucks that were equipped with an 8.4-inch radio display and a backup camera. When engaged into reverse, the backup camera appeared in the rear view mirror and the cargo camera appeared on the 8.4-inch radio display. These 2013-2015 built 8.4-inch radios only had one camera input, hence the reason why Ram decided to put the backup camera image in the rear view mirror. Dumb right?

• All radios sold through Infotainment.com feature the latest & greatest firmware updates prior to shipping. If you currently have a factory installed 8.4-inch radio display ask your local dealer to update your radio’s firmware to the 2017 version 17.11.XX. If they don’t have that capability then send your radio to NavRepair.com for their $99 inspection & firmware update. This firmware upgrade will enable two camera inputs on your 8.4-inch radio. One for a backup camera and one for a cargo camera. Both easily selectable using soft keys on your radio display.

1. Cargo Camera OBD Genie Programmer (C-SCC)

To reroute the backup camera feed from your rear view mirror to your 8.4-inch radio display! Here is what you’ll need:

• Ask your dealer to update your radio’s firmware to the 2017 version 17.11.XX. If they don’t have the capability then send your radio to NavRepair.com for an inspection & firmware update. If they don’t have that capability then send your radio to NavRepair.com for their $99 inspection & firmware update. This firmware upgrade will enable two camera inputs on your 8.4-inch radio. 2016-2018 Ram Truck

The 2016-2018 Ram truck featured a factory cargo camera built into the LED third brake light. It came as an option on all trucks that were equipped with an 8.4-inch radio display and a backup camera. Both the backup camera and the cargo camera appeared on the 8.4-inch radio display while in reverse. The driver had the option to select between both images using soft keys on the radio display. These 2016-2018 built 8.4-inch radios had two camera inputs allowing the driver to easily install two separate cameras and have the ability to see both on the 8.4-inch display. Makes perfect sense!
